Self-rescue 2
Self-rescue course 2 gives you tools for rescuing a lead climber and handling complex situations on longer routes.
After the course you will be able to evacuate an injured climbing partner in both leader and second scenarios, including in more difficult conditions or on longer routes. You learn several advanced methods that can be used on their own or combined to safely and efficiently respond to or prevent accident situations in steep rock terrain.
The course covers planning and assessment in rescue scenarios, how to choose between lowering, raising, or evacuation, and how to transport an immobilized climber safely. You also practise making quick, considered decisions and using efficient routines that still work in complex situations.
This course is the natural next step for climbers who have completed Self-Rescue 1 and have practical lead climbing experience. The goal is that you can act with confidence and competence when it really matters, whether the incident happens on a short route or a longer climb.
Duration: 2 days.
